Virtual Live Lounge Lockdown Session
This term’s Live Lounge was presented virtually once again via the Music Department’s YouTube channel and the astonishing vocal talents of Caterham School pupils, from all year groups, was showcased.
The event is an opportunity for pupils to present acoustic versions of pop songs; stripped-back and accompanied simply by piano or guitar, with the addition, on occasion of basic drums such as the cajon, the cello, backing vocals or any other instrument that makes their performance original.
Each song has something a bit different about it – perfectly demonstrated by Millie T’s version of the disco classic ‘I Will Survive’; reimagined by Millie (Lower Sixth Form) as a moody jazz-infused version. Backing tracks for each of the songs have been made especially for this project- no pupil is singing along to karaoke tracks which is even more impressive; they have worked hard on their own arrangements that differ hugely from the original song.
The accomplished talents of Upper Sixth Form pupil Alyssa D are seen once again as she performs her own piece ‘Stella’s Song’ that was inspired by her study of ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’.

Congratulations must go to all of the singers who took part this term. However, those who accompanied themselves on guitar; Anna D and Connie McM should be particularly mentioned. Well done to all performers for such excellent and stylish performances.
