Virtual Live Lounge

Virtual Live Lounge

This term’s Live Lounge was presented virtually via a fantastic and entertaining YouTube channel dedicated to some amazing performances by pupils from a variety of year groups. Live Lounge is a popular termly event in the music department’s calendar that showcases the natural vocal talents of many pupils. The premise of the event is to present acoustic versions of pop songs; stripped-back and accompanied by piano or guitar, with the addition, on occasion of basic drums such as the cajon, the cello, backing vocals or any other instrument that makes their performance original. We are often fortunate to have original songs and composition from our talented pupils. It is always a fantastic evening that resembles an Open Mic night and a great occasion for pupils to choose and perform their own songs- with very minimal rehearsal and much improvisation. All of the performances for this term’s Live Lounge can be seen here:

Congratulations must go to all of the singers who took part this term. But, stand-out performances are most certainly in the renditions by Sophia M, Zara C and Penny O.

This term the project was taken into the School’s own recording studio, the Liu Recording Studio that is located in the Performing Arts Centre. Whilst keeping to the premise of acoustic performances and minimal rehearsal, our pupils took on the challenge of performing their ‘one-take-wonders’ with huge style and professionalism.
