University Applications, Sixth Form Success
This year’s Sixth Form university applications have secured a very strong set of offers across the UK’s top institutions and competitive courses. This is a fantastic achievement in what has been a particularly unsettled and challenging year nationally. Caterham applications to 11 of the top 20 UK universities have seen an offers rate of 90 per cent or higher, with applications to Exeter, Manchester, Birmingham, Warwick gain a 95 per cent success rate or above. Applications to York, Southampton and Loughborough secured a 100 per cent success rate.
Caterham pupils apply to the most ambitious courses, and this year has been no exception. Of the UK’s top 20 courses applied for by Caterham sixth form pupils, 12 courses saw a successful offer rate of between 85 and 100 per cent, including science courses, economics, history, geography, modern languages, accountancy and finance.
Dr Rachel Avery, Director of Sixth Form, said: “Our Sixth Form have navigated their final year with calm confidence despite an unusual academic year for all schools and I am incredibly proud of them. This success over a broad range of subjects shows a consistently strong picture and underlines our commitment to supporting our young people’s ambitions and to whatever path is right for them.”
The positive picture for university applications follows successful Oxbridge applications announced earlier in the year and four degree apprenticeship places secured with leading global firms.
