U13 South Surrey District Athletics Meet
The warm whether emerged just in time for the U13 athletics meet to go ahead, with Long Jump and Triple Jump the only two casualties from the cataclysmic downpours in the valley. Spectators were treated to a breath-taking mixture of tenacity and form with impressive displays on show in every race.
Both teams finished in second place overall with the girls team narrowly missing out on the top spot by a single point.
Standout performances form the girls’ team came from Hannah Kennedy with a 1st place in the High Jump, Issy Ford with a 1st place in the Javelin and podiums from Georgie Owen and Sophie Shipsey in the 100m and Hurdles respectively. From the boys side podiums from the sprint duo of Theo Abru in the 100m with a new PB of 12.75 and Kristian Gundlach with a PB in the 200m in a time of 27.78. These two forming integral parts of the relay alongside the slick changes of Will Beech and Roddy Norris. Zac Hammad also secured a podium with an impressive High Jump leap of 1.45m
