Top four of 1500 Schools in Netball National Final
The U16 netball team qualified for the National ‘SistersNSport’ Plate Final Four day at Loughborough University last Thursday. They have been quietly progressing through the rounds of this national competition since September and having knocked out an established Sandringham side in a nail biting home semi-final (32-24) a fortnight ago, the squad booked their place at the National Finals for only the second time in Caterham School history.
We travelled up on Wednesday and enjoyed a team bonding Nandos and an overnight stay in the Premier Inn. We played a fierce Bury Grammar school on Thursday morning and we were slow out of the blocks – despite winning the second half we fell short. We then went on a tour of Loughborough University campus and enjoyed a team photoshoot before we prepared for our bronze medal match against Roedean. Another close match up but again falling agonisingly short the squad finished in 4th position. A truly remarkable achievement for a competition that has over 1500 entries and includes all state, grammar, day and boarding schools up and down the length of the country.
This ends a phenomenal season for this group of athletes who now enter into our senior netball programme. We look forward to seeing what is to come for this talented and hardworking group.
