ThunderCats Netball v Surrey Storm U14 Academy
On Tuesday night the ThunderCats Netball squad travelled over to the Surrey Sports Park to compete against the Surrey Storm U14 Academy squad.
The ThunderCats are the players considered to be the top netballers in each year group at the time of selection, with girls from U12 up to U15 in contention for a place in the squad. The ThunderCats usually play a fixture against each other, however, on this occasion we were able to test ourselves against some of the best U14 netballers in the region, as girls travel from all over London and the South East to train as part of the Surrey Storm Academy. It was a fantastic evening of netball, with our girls playing in a tournament against the Storm girls. We were mightily impressed by the quality of opposition, particularly the speed at which the Storm players were able to bring the ball through the court. Our girls contested every ball and absolutely did themselves proud against some exceptionally talented Storm youngsters. It was a great experience for our girls, and hopefully the evening gave them some added motivation to train even harder, as well as the extra confidence to believe that one day it could be them in Surrey Storm colours.
A place in the ThunderCats squad is up for grabs for all of NetCats and should be something that each and every one of them should aim for over the course of their time at Caterham.
Very well done to this squad of ThunderCats, who acquitted themselves brilliantly: U12 – Issy and Lucy; U13 – Ronnie, Lucy, Willow, Imogen; U14 – Poppy, Jenna, Julianne (Surrey Storm U14 Academy player) and Joani; U15 – Georgie, Amy, Madeleine and Charlotte.
