The Hawthorns School joins the Caterham Family of Schools

Thriving and much-loved Surrey Prep school, The Hawthorns School is joining the multi award-winning Caterham Family of Schools.

This is an exciting partnership and a new chapter for The Hawthorns as it looks forward to its future development alongside Caterham. The schools already share many values, pupils and families, as well as educational vision. Alongside our passion for delivering an outstanding education and a love of learning for life, we share the same desire for excellence in an environment where wellbeing and the care of children is paramount.

Reflecting a shared focus on excellence in all areas of education, The Hawthorns School received a glowing ISI Inspection report earlier this year and 2023 saw Caterham School excelling in theirs, being awarded three Key Areas of Strength, the only UK HMC school to achieve this.

Brad Dyer, Chair of Governors at The Hawthorns School remarked, “The decision to become part of the Caterham Family of Schools comes from a position of strength and cements a longstanding and positive relationship between the schools. The Hawthorns School will maintain its own unique identity, leadership and Board of Governors. The Caterham Family of Schools encompasses Caterham senior school, Caterham Prep School and Copthorne Prep School  joined the family of schools in 2023. Caterham School was named as the Times Educational Supplement’s Best UK Senior School in 2023 and has long been recognised for innovation, digital learning and wellbeing in addition to top academic results. Caterham School is also the founding school of the East Surrey Learning Partnership – a group of independent and state-maintained schools which work together as equal partners to further educational opportunity for all young people in the local area.
