The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols

The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols

The Carol Service was a fitting end of term celebration and once again, our choirs ETS (Eric Thiman Singers) and Chamber Choir gave stunning performances of anthems, both old and new. The candle-lit procession, in traditional form, featured Second Year Tom B singing the solo verse of Once in Royal David’s City. The service was attended by the Second Years who contributed to the service with their Anthem Masters In This Hall, a rousing and powerful piece supported by the choirs. Uplifting descants and triumphant organ accompaniments made this service a wonderful start to the Christmas holidays. The heart of the evening was undeniably the stellar choral performances and congratulations must go to all choir members for their commitment, particularly at the very end of such a busy term. Each piece was a testament to the dedication and talent of the singers, who navigated the intricate harmonies with precision and feeling. The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was attended by the whole school community; boarders, pupils, parents, staff, trustees and friends of both the Prep and Senior School- a wonderful occasion to mark the beginning of the Christmas holidays. Huge praise and thanks must go to singers in both choirs.
