Spring Concert: An Exciting Evening of Musical Talent!
On Friday, March 22, Sinfonia and Film Orchestra took to the stage for our annual Spring Concert.
The evening began with four original compositions from some of our talented Upper Sixth pupils: Philip M, Alice H, Ammara K and Jae C not only composed but also conducted their own work, performed superbly by Sinfonia. A very different but nonetheless impressive start to the evening.
The central portion of the concert featured concerto movements performed by Marcus K (Upper Sixth, ‘Cello), Florence N (Third Year, Piano), Rupert L (Upper Sixth, Marimba) and Jerry T (Upper Sixth, Marimba). All four soloists performed to the highest professional standard with a range of pieces from Haydn, Mozart and Rosauro. A huge congratulations to these four wonderful musicians.
The final part of the evening featured film music, with Film Orchestra making their concert debut. We began with the Upper Sixth ensemble leading the charge with a brilliant rendition of the main theme from The Incredibles, followed by Film Orchestra magnificently performing themes from Gladiator, How to Train your Dragon and finishing with the epic Pirates of the Caribbean.
A brilliant and enjoyable evening of wonderful music and a great way to round off the term. Many congratulations to all who took part.
