Ryen’s Summer Race from English Schools to Dynamic New Athletics

Many congratulations to Ryen who enjoyed a packed summer of amazing athletic achievement:

First competition of the summer was English Schools for which I had placed second in the heats with a time of 50.78. However, the time wasn’t fast enough for me to qualify for the final.

Shortly after on the 20th of July I competed in the diamond league athletics club connect relays where my team placed 4th. We were then able to watch the rest of the London diamond league event seeing big athletes like Noah Lyles and Mathew Hudson Smith.

Next was the England athletics open championships where I placed first in the heats with a time 51.23, third in the semi finial with a time of 50.35 and last in the final with a time of 49.97.

Soon after that I had the England athletics relays. I had run in both the 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay. Our 4x100m team didn’t qualify for the finals however the 4x400m was a straight final. I was last leg and was dipped at the line being beaten by 0.06 seconds placing second.

Lastly, I had the YDL (youth development league) final where I placed 2nd in the 400m, 2nd in the 4x100m and 2nd in the 4x400m. Overall, our club won the competition as we have done every year since 2017. Since we won the YDL final my club Blackheath and Bromley gets to compete in a competition called the DNA (Dynamic New Athletics) on the 21st of September. In this, we will compete against other clubs internationally.
