Remembrance Day Recital
Following the Remembrance Service on Sunday 12 November, ETS (Eric Thiman Singers) and Chamber Choir performed in the annual recital of reflection and contemplation that once again, provided a stirring and moving soundtrack to the day. The words heard in the service just beforehand, were echoed in the lyrics of the pieces performed, which included a beautiful setting of For the Fallen and Elgar’s Ave Verum Corpus.
Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep, set to music by the well-known composer Howard Goodall, brought ETS and Chamber Choir together, and ended the recital with powerful words resonating with every person present.
The Remembrance Day recital is a poignant and touching musical occasion in the calendar, which reinforces the words by Hans Christian Andersen; ‘where words fail, music speaks’.
