Record-Breaking Success in Bebras International Computing Challenge
We are thrilled to announce exceptional results from this year’s Bebras Computing Challenge, in which our pupils achieved unprecedented success! In a remarkable first for our school, six Third Year pupils — Jake, Harry, Rupert, Joseph, George, and Harry — achieved perfect scores of 220/220, demonstrating extraordinary computational thinking and problem-solving skills.
Nearly half of our Third Year pupils were awarded Gold certificates, placing them in the top 10% nationally. A third of the participants earned distinction certificates (scoring 188/220 or higher). Our Fourth Year pupils showed equally impressive performances at the senior level, with half achieving merit or higher. At the elite level, our Sixth Form pupils continued to excel, with 50% securing merit or higher classifications.
The Bebras Challenge, organised by the Raspberry Pi Foundation in partnership with the University of Oxford, is a prestigious international competition that attracts over 3 million participants from more than 80 countries. Pupils tackle interactive problems designed to test logical thinking and problem-solving abilities within a challenging 45-minute timeframe.
These results represent our school’s strongest performance to date in this competition, reflecting the outstanding capability and dedication of our pupils. We look forward to supporting our high-achieving pupils as they progress to the next round in March.
Congratulations to all participants for their remarkable achievements in this demanding international challenge!
