Pro Corda Grand Final for Zheng Trio
The Zheng Trio have progressed to the Grand Final of the Pro Corda Chamber Music Festival; a national competition that celebrates chamber music. The Zheng Trio consists of Fiona (Lower Sixth) on the pianoforte, Alice (Upper Sixth) on the flute and Ammara (Upper Sixth) on the Clarinet. The Zheng Trio have been selected from a vast number of chamber ensembles in the United Kingdom, performing Saint-Saëns’ Tarantella – a virtuosic piece of music with technical challenges alongside beautiful, lyrical melodies throughout.
The group have an exceptionally warm and friendly dynamic and the semi-final adjudicator made comments about their excellent rapport. He mentioned how as soloists they are clearly superb, as chamber music requires a balance between performing as both a soloist and accompanist and varying these roles dynamically throughout.
The final round will be held at Central Foundation Boys School in Central London. The adjudicator will be Dr Evan Rothstein, Deputy Head of Strings at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London.
We are immensely proud of their superb achievement already, and we wish them the best of luck for the final!
