Patron Welcomes New Young Medics
PATRON OF THE WRIGHT SOCIETY TALKS TO NEW MEDICS JOINING THE SOCIETY FROM CATERHAM, WARLINGHAM, AND OXTED SCHOOLS
The Wright Society had a very special guest last week when Dr Wright came in to speak to us all about the journey, we will need to take in order to become Doctors. Dr Wright detailed both his and his daughters’ (both Old Caterhamians) routes through doing a medicine degree and post medical school training. He began his talk with a brief overview of his journey and what made him want to become a doctor before urging us to think about what exactly it was that was driving us to choose medicine over any of the other hundreds of healthcare professions.
Next, Dr Wright talked about some of the many specialised training routes and how we must be open to our preconceived notions of our future specialisations changing as our circumstances change. Finally, he answered any questions we had about both his journey and the best options for us moving forward in the future. We all found Dr Wright’s talk enlightening and the advice he gave us will be cherished over the coming years. The entire Wright Society is very appreciative of Dr Wright for giving up his time and coming in to speak to us last week.
