Ollie Performs to Sold Out Miller Theatre
Over the last 10 days, Ollie (Fifth Year) has taken centre stage, playing the lead role of Christopher in Simon Stephen’s adaptation of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at local amateur theatre, the Miller Centre.
The role of Christopher is incredibly physically and mentally demanding. As a 15-year-old boy, who struggles to navigate the social norms of the world, Ollie was not only believable but also treated the character with exceptional sensitivity and maturity. He was incredibly consistent and maintained the character throughout every moment of the show – I forgot I was watching Ollie and really believed I was following Christopher’s story! The staging was highly physical (Ollie barely left the stage for a minute of the entire production!) so not only did he have to act the part well but he was also required to do some rhythmic/movement work and some fight choreography. Ollie absolutely deserved the standing ovation he received at the end of the production I attended and should be very proud of his achievement.
Not only has Ollie done an exceptional job of a challenging role, but also all ten shows sold out completely before the run started so a huge congratulations to the whole cast and crew is well deserved.
Mrs Parker
The Miller Centre Theatre’s next production is Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein by Roan Munro and is directed by our very own Mrs Parker from the Maths Department. It opens on Thursday 31 October and runs through to Saturday 9 November.
