Local Support for Ukrainian Families
As many of you will be aware, Caterham and the surrounding areas are hosting a number of families and individuals from Ukraine.
In addition to welcoming families directly into the school, the wider school community is making every effort to make sure these families are not only welcomed but actively helped, with whatever they need in these tough times.
We know many of you are already doing amazing things and Caterham parents who are helping co-ordinate the local effort in Caterham have a few requests that they really need some help with:
Soper Hall, at the bottom of Harestone Valley Road, are hosting a weekly coffee morning for Ukrainians and their host families, on Wednesdays, which started in mid May. To continue to do this they need the following help:-
– Baked goods and refreshments, to be dropped off on Wednesday mornings, exact drop off location tbc. And then every Wednesday going forward. We will allocate dates.
– Children’s play mats and good clean toys suitable for under 5’s, many of the families have young children with them, who as we know need to be kept occupied 🙂
– Transport – many of the Ukrainian people don’t presently have their own transport, we need volunteers who could give someone a lift to or from the coffee morning.
If you can help with either of these requests please contact Louisa on 07540009185 or join the new Classlist Group.
We have set up a Caterham School group on Classlist – Help for the local Ukrainian community – that can help with the changing needs and requests that the Ukrainian families will have, this could range from jobs, clothes, equipment, specialist advice and transport.
We hope to match the requests with people who can help, and also offers of help with the people who need it.
If you would like more information on this and to be included please join the group or contact Louisa directly or on Classlist.
We will hopefully also be doing some
