Lacrosse Round-Up
Last Saturday, the 1st XII travelled to Guildford High School for their annual Vivien Jones League Match against Guildford High and a friendly against Moreton Hall. Past results against GHS have always been close, however Guildford came away with the victory in the last five contests. Despite the rainy conditions, the Caterham 1st XII put in an incredible performance, doubling Guildford’s score and ending with an 8-4 victor. Three goals were scored by Player of the Match, Lottie McDonald, another two were added by Roberta, and Emily, Pippa and Holly had the other three tallies. Yuka stepped in from the 2nd XII and was an absolute force in goal, making it extremely hard for GHS to get the ball past her. Patient and poised attack, relentless re-defending by the attackers, and excellent team defence made all the difference.
In their second match of the day, the 1st XII took on Moreton Hall, a team they have only ever seen in tournament play. A dominant, 3-0 second half game Caterham the 7-4 win. Highlights included Kaitlyn’s hustle on the clear and Zara’s first ever 1st XII goal! What a fantastic way to start the second term of lacrosse for the 1st XII. Huge congratulations on these fantastic wins ladies!
The U15A’s were the only other lacrosse team to play due to the pitch conditions and they also took on Moreton Hall. A fantastic experience seeing some different competition in preparation for Nationals after half-term. Caterham goals were scored by Madeleine (2) and Hattie. The two teams battled back and forth the entire 40 minutes but Moreton eventually outscored Caterham – final score Caterham 3 – Moreton Hall 7. A great team effort put on display. Well done, girls! Looking forward to the upcoming matches and tournaments.
