Independent School of the Year Award – Best Use of Ed Tech

Caterham School has been shortlisted for Best Use of Education Technology in the Independent School of the Year Awards 2024 which were announced this week. The awards look at different aspects of education and school life in UK and international schools.

Caterham has been recognised not only for the EDGE digital and innovation curriculum, which runs from Prep to Sixth Form, but also for groundbreaking work in EdTech and AI. Of particular interest to the judges is that the school not only integrates EdTech alongside traditional teaching and learning methods but actually develops specialist EdTech solutions. AI powered learning and teaching bot RileyBot has been in use in Caterham classrooms since the spring and is being adopted by schools across the UK. RileyBot acts like a teacher, supporting and coaching pupils alongside their human teachers to extend learning opportunities and achievement. Caterham is the only UK school to have a machine learning engineer on staff.

The winners, chosen by the Independent Schools of the Year judging panel made up of sector leaders, will be announced at an awards ceremony in October.
