HALF TERM HOCKEY CAMP
The Hockey Academy had an eventful half term as we welcomed England and Great Britain Olympic hockey superstar Michael Hoare to the coaching team. Michael attended the first day of our two-day camp and further boosted our extremely talented array of coaching staff.
All of the young players were able to get contact time with Michael in small groups before having the chance to ask him questions about his journey to the peak of the sport during the lunch break. During the afternoon Michael again worked with the groups in their game play activities and even stayed around at the end to sign some autographs for some very excited young players!
Our prize winner on the day was Lily who was presented with an England shirt signed by the entire men’s squad. Michael also presented the school with a Great Britain hockey shirt signed by the squad.
The second day continued with National Premier League players coaching the groups in more advanced techniques and plenty of game play opportunities. In the afternoon some of the younger players even got to venture inside to practice their indoor hockey.
It was fantastic to see the improvements made over the two days and the smiles on all of the players’ faces, despite some very challenging weather.
Our next camp will run on Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 April. Contact Peter Friend via: [email protected] for more details or follow us @caterhamhockey on Twitter.
