French Society Lecture Brings Insight
On Tuesday 7 November the French Society welcomed a huge audience for the first Lower Sixth talk of the year, presented by Sviatoslav Piskun. In his talk about Ukraine, Sviatoslav introduced the audience to the history, culture and cuisine of his home country as well as to the key Ukrainian cities Kiev and Lviv. In the group discussion that followed the speaker and the audience exchanged opinions on several intriguing topics such as the current political situation in the country and the ethics of the tourist industry in the areas affected by the Chernobyl tragedy in 1986. This opening talk set an excellent start to a series of Lower Sixth talks to perfect their public speaking in French and help them build up them confidence and fluency. Next presentation will be by Yasemin Senai on Tuesday 21 November – all Sixth Form and Fifth Years welcome!
