Finale to an Impressive Term for MJS
This week saw the closing Moncrieff-Jones Society talk of the term. Natasha S treated the audience of nearly 50 pupils from Fifth Year, Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth to an undergraduate lecture on neuroscience, the brain and our latest understanding of the neurotransmitters behind ADHD. It was a truly stunning finish to the term. Mr Q commented on how impressive the talks have been this term. Topics have ranged from neuroscience to superconductivity to reaction mechanisms occurring the active sites of enzymes. What is most impressive is that our Upper Sixth speakers talk for 30 minutes without notes at degree level then face a cross-questioning from the audience, including their teachers, which would intimidate any university finals student. The Lower Sixth are up next and the speakers and topics will be announced soon.
