Economics Lecture in International Finance
Sixth Form Economics pupils were treated to a lecture from Dr Rupinder Singh, a senior British economist and policy advisor with over 27 years of international experience across academia, think tanks including CETRAN in Portugal and the CEPR in London, IFIs and advisory work with governments. Focussing on issues in International Finance, the talk allowed pupils to enrich their understanding of National Accounts, Exchange rates and economic policy. With the ever-increasing importance of climate finance it was interesting to discuss how robust the Green regulatory framework is in different nations, and was a timely reminder of the Paris accord, as its’ integrity continues to be threatened with Trump’s second term. With interesting and unique anecdotes referenced throughout, the talk empowered pupils to take what he had spoken about and relate it to their studies.
After the talk, Dr Singh gave some excellent answers to the plethora of questions that pupils asked. A big thank you to Dr. Singh, and we hope to welcome you back at some point in the near future!
