Economics Debate v Lingfield College
On Tuesday afternoon, Caterham’s Lower Sixth Form Economists challenged their counterparts from Lingfield College to a healthy debate on some of the key questions of the British Economy today. The macro groups discussed whether there is a need for an austerity budget versus an expansionary one. After drawing up some quick arguments, Lingfield galiantly argued for austerity, but it was Caterham who took the win with a well-coordinated argument for growth stimulating policies. The micro teams then battled over whether workers and customers would experience a better train network if it were Government owned & run. In a more close-run discussion, it was Lingfield who this time took the win as they argued that not only should it remain private, the government should privatise the tracks too. Clearly opinion was divided on how best to tackle some of 2022’s big Economic challenges, however all can agree that it was a fantastic session! Well done to everyone involved and looking forward to our next collaboration!
