Caterham Hosts Surrey 7s Rugby Tournament
Over the past two weeks Caterham School has laid claim to being the home of Surrey 7s; hosting not one, but two age groups for the county’s premier tournament.
The school welcomed in excess of 852 rugby players to take part in a tournament that guaranteed every player the opportunity to develop their understanding and knowledge of one of the fastest and most challenging formats of the game.
Six pitches at Hill Fields saw 39 schools from across the county pit their wits against one another for the U15 and U14 titles. The Caterham teams did not disappoint accruing impressive scores on the way to their respective Quarter Finals. The U14’s managed to total 200 points in their four group games!
Spectators were treated with barista coffee and freshly cooked hot food from the newly formed ‘Food Village’ to stave off the cold as they supported their sons on the pitch in the prevailing weather.
Photos include the impressive U16 squads; the A squad reaching the Semi-finals of the main competition with impressive wins over Halliford, Wallington CGS, KCS Wimbledon and Epsom College.
The B squad reaching the Vase Final with impressive victories over several A teams, including KCS Wimbledon, Tiffin and Hinchley Wood.
