Careers Evening: Engineering Opportunities
A huge thank you to everyone involved in the Careers in Stem evening last Monday. We were extremely lucky to welcome two young engineers, Rebecca Hogan and Matt Trayner, an Old Cat (2009) who talked about their very different roles and the routes they have taken to get there. It was shocking to hear that the engineering industry experts are predicting a yearly shortfall of engineers of 20,000 – that is an astounding figure and one that our country really needs to address. It is clear that we need more young people to embrace the endless opportunities that this profession can offer as well as the very transferable skills you can build on. Technology is moving so fast and to be able to be at the forefront of such innovation, as Rebecca and Matt are, is something I hope our pupils will consider as a serious option for their future careers.
