Annual Elmes Economics Lecture Inspires
On Wednesday, Sixth Form pupils studying Business, Economics, Geography, and German had the privilege of attending the 4th Annual Elmes Economics Lecture, delivered by Mr. Andrew Elmes, Head of Business Development at Siemens Gamesa. With his unique insights into working for a leading German company and the career advantages of being bilingual, Mr. Elmes provided an engaging and informative presentation.
The theme of the talk revolved around the successes, challenges, and prospects of renewable energy in the UK. Mr. Elmes spoke of the complexities of energy pricing within the renewables market. He highlighted the significant challenges surrounding electricity storage for future use and the need for infrastructure upgrades to enable renewable energy to surpass fossil fuels as the dominant source.
