An Evening of Theatrical Splendour
On Wednesday, the Fifth Year GCSE Drama pupils welcomed the first live audience back into the Deayton Theatre in nearly two years. Performing extracts from a wide variety of plays, including Girls Like That, The Woman in Black and Waiting for Godot, this was the pupils’ second examined performance as part of their GCSE Drama course. They donned their costumes, painted on bruises and enjoyed the odd trilby, before treading the boards and delighting their friends, families and teachers with their carefully honed interpretations. There was heartbreak, resentment, camaraderie, competition, and even a chicken fight… What else could you want from an evening of theatrical splendour?
Well done to this fantastic cohort who worked incredibly hard in the lead up to these performances, and who will now begin creating original devised pieces of theatre. Watch this space- who knows where they’ll take us next…!
