Netball: Performance of the Season!
On Thursday 25 January the 1st VII (first seven netball team) put in their top performance of the season, and possibly the top performance of any 1st VII in any season gone by, as they recorded a magnificent 32-30 win versus HPP (Hurstpierpoint). The standard of netball on display was incredibly high – the athleticism of both sides was really inspiring to see. Caterham were absolutely relentless in their intensity and work ethic throughout the match, never tiring in their determination to win the ball and take it to goal. Not a single pass, move, or shot went unpressured, however our girls coped magnificently and were able to see out their game plan regardless of the different tactics that HPP used to try to stop them.
The first quarter score was a 8-8, and then for the next two quarters Caterham took hold of the game and were in control, pushing on to a 26-18 score at the end of their third quarter. They then had to with-stand twelve minutes of fight-back from HPP, who to their credit absolutely refused to give up on the game. Caterham managed to stay strong and keep their heads under enormous pressure and tension, knowing that any error would not go unpunished by HPP.
The final score of 32-30 to Caterham was so richly deserved – the girls left absolutely everything on the court and finished the game incredibly proud of the performance they had put out. The HPP 1st VII have since gone on to qualify for the National Schools Finals, which further emphasises just how well our girls did to record this win. Congratulations to the girls on a game of such quality and heart – it was a sensational performance from nine sensational players.
