Talk by Dr Andrew Spencer
Thursday 29 June, 5.00pm
We are delighted to welcome historian Dr Andrew Spencer to Caterham School on Thursday 29 June at 5.00pm. Dr Spencer’s talk aims to enthuse pupils to study history at university and include an opportunity to ask questions. Pupils are most welcome to attend with their parents.
Dr Spencer’s research interests include politics, power and the constitution in medieval England (especially in the 13th and 14th centuries). Dr Spencer is an admissions tutor at Murray Edwards, Cambridge.
Dr Spencer was born and educated in Sussex and attended King’s College, London, before coming to Cambridge to study Medieval History at Peterhouse. His PhD on the English nobility in the reign of Edward I was supervised by Professor Christine Carpenter, then a fellow of New Hall. After working as a speech writer for an MP, Dr Spencer returned to Cambridge as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow of the British Academy at Corpus Christi College. He then moved to Christ’s to become Admissions Tutor in 2013 and started at Murray Edwards in September 2016.
