Parental Wellbeing Webinar: ‘I Wish I’d Known’

Parental Wellbeing Webinar: ‘I Wish I’d Known’

We are delighted to extend an invitation to parents and guardians to our next Parental Wellbeing Webinar entitled ‘I’d Wish I’d Known’ on Tuesday 7 May at 7.00pm. Our speaker will be Fiona Spargo-Mabbs, Founder of the Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation, a drugs and alcohol awareness and education charity.

The DSM Foundation was set up by Fiona and Tim Spargo-Mabbs in 2014 after the tragic death of their 16-year-old son Daniel as a result of taking ecstasy (www.dsmfoundation.org.uk). Fiona has become a leading UK expert on drug education, including how parents can best support their children. She has spoken to parents and carers across the UK and internationally and is regularly asked to speak by the media. She is author of two books for parents, the award-winning ‘I Wish I’d Known – Young People, Drugs and Decisions’ and ‘Talking the Tough Stuff with Teens’ and was awarded an OBE in 2023 for services to young people.

As part of the Wellbeing curriculum lessons cover topics such as risky behaviour, keeping safe, and alcohol & drug education, and these are all curated in conjunction with the DSM Foundation and the research they conduct. We are delighted to welcome Fiona back to speak to the Caterham community once again.

There will be a Q&A session after the initial presentation where Fiona will be happy to answer any questions you may have, as will Sarah Griffiths (Deputy Head, Pastoral and Wellbeing), Louise Fahey (Assistant Head, Pastoral and Wellbeing) and Rebecca Mugridge (Head of Wellbeing). There is also the opportunity to ask confidential questions before the workshop via the online survey link you will receive, and during the workshop itself.
