A very warm welcome to Caterham School – an ambitious, high achieving and friendly community – named best Independent Senior School by the Times Educational Supplement. We ensure Caterhamians reach great heights, in the UK and globally, by gaining top grades, by becoming problem solvers and innovators and by never letting go of the kindness and consideration that is the hallmark of our school.

School days at Caterham are packed full of learning, adventure and memory-making activities. Academic learning here is broad with a vast range of subjects on offer, all taught by highly specialist teachers. Our connections and pathways to UK and global universities are strong with an expert careers team guiding our pupils through application and a global network of alumni actively engaged in mentoring and supporting through university and beyond. Currently 50 Caterhamians are studying at Oxford and Cambridge University and this year saw our pupils secure full scholarship offers to Princeton and unconditional offers to fellow Ivy League institution the University of Pennsylvania. In 2024, 85 per cent of Caterham pupils progressed to their first choice university and course across Oxbridge, Russell Group, G5 universities in the UK, in the USA and beyond. Our long-standing tradition of preparing successful medics, vets and dentists also continued with a 100 per cent success rate for the second year running.

Our traditions go back over 200 years since the school’s founding in 1811. While our history is rich, we ensure Caterhamians are future ready with our unique EDGE innovation and digital curriculum ensuring digital, entrepreneurial and problem solving skills alongside academic excellence. We are one of just a handful of Apple Distinguished Schools and Caterham was granted status as an EdTech 50 school status in the House of Lords.

We are a diverse community and see this a key strength of our school. Caterham is the first UK school to instigate a ‘next generation’ Shadow Board of young alumni who work alongside our full Board of Trustees.
