Christmas Markets in Cologne

Christmas Markets in Cologne

A group of Second Year pupils, accompanied the German department (and honorary member) embarked on a memorable Christmas market trip to Cologne. The adventure began with a dramatic dash through the airport, after navigating the challenges of the M25. Once safely in Cologne, the group spent three days immersing themselves in the city’s festive charm.

Highlights included a stroll across the iconic Hohenzollern Bridge, adorned with countless love padlocks, and a visit to Cologne’s awe-inspiring cathedral. The group explored the city’s many Christmas markets, savouring seasonal treats and browsing for unique gifts. A visit to the Lindt Chocolate Museum would delight all but the most resolute chocolate sceptics, offering insight into the art of chocolate-making – and, of course, plenty of opportunities to sample the goods and explore the shop.

The festive excitement peaked on Sunday with a trip to Phantasialand. The theme park, transformed into a winter wonderland, featured glittering lights, thrilling rides, and even an ice rink, offering a magical experience.

A perfect way to start the festive holidays. Thank you to Mr Jones, Mr Wells and Ms Stedman for accompanying the trip.
