1st XI Crowned South East Regional Champions and Qualify for National Hockey Finals
A huge congratulations to our 1st XI hockey team, who were crowned T3 South East Regional Champions on Monday! This fantastic achievement secures their place in the National Finals, set to take place in February at the Nottingham Hockey Centre.
After triumphing in the Surrey rounds a few weeks ago, the team arrived at St Edmund’s Canterbury in high spirits. Two impressive group stage wins against Benenden and Hurst earned them a spot in the semi-finals, where they faced the hosts. Delivering an exceptional display of attacking hockey, the girls secured a 2-0 victory to book their place in the final against City of London Freemen’s.
The final proved to be a tightly contested match, with Caterham dominating possession and creating the majority of chances. Despite their efforts, the game ended 0-0, leading to a nerve-wracking shuttle competition to decide the winner. Goalkeeper Amelie D was the star of the shootout, delivering an outstanding performance to help the team clinch a 2-1 victory.
This remarkable achievement marks the third consecutive year that the 1st XI has qualified for the National Finals—a testament to their skill, determination, and teamwork. We wish the team the very best as they prepare to compete on the national stage in February!
