New Recruits begin their CCF Journey
During the middle weekend of half-term, a group of around 45 new recruits, including me, came together for Recruits’ Camp. It was a fun way for the new Third Years to test and develop their skills as members of the CCF. After being instructed in how to wear our new uniforms correctly, we had the chance to try activities such first aid, air rifle shooting, how to move tactically, setting up shelters and feeding ourselves in the field. There was also ample chance to get ourselves totally lost in Old Park Woods on Ex WET FEET after coming under enemy fire for the first time!
On the second day we took on enemy positions in pairs with paintball guns and met the heavy field gun for the first time too. It was a brilliant opportunity which everyone took in full to have fun with other recruits and our Sixth Form NCOs, discovering new skills and new friends. Well done to Rct White, who was awarded ‘Best Shot’ and Rct Marsden, ‘Best Recruit on Camp’.
