Triumph in Round One for Caterham at Hans Woyda Competition
Caterham returned with a well-earned victory against Whitgift in the Hans Woyda maths competition. Last Monday, four pupils, Darren Z (U6), Anastasiia M (L6), Ian W (Fifth Year) and Jake D (Third Year) headed to Whitgift School to take on the first round of the Hans Woyda maths competition. The pressure was on as we were defeated by the strong Whitgift team last year. This year held a different story with our team performing brilliantly, answering difficult maths questions under incredibly tight time constraints. The scores ebbed back and forth, with Whitgift leading after round 1 and Caterham leading after round 2, before Whitgift stole back the lead, and so on. We went into the final round with Caterham leading but only just, with 1 point more than our opponents. The last round was a head-to-head race to answer the questions faster and Caterham pulled it out of the bag, demonstrating superior speed and accuracy to end the match with a score of 53-46. A well-earned victory for Team Caterham.
