Arcadis Decide – Winning Design
In the Spring Term, First Year EDGE pupils were introduced to the world of Architecture. Following an inspiring visit to Arcadis’ office in London, where pupils met Architects and Engineers followed by an architectural walking tour in the Kings Cross area of London, pupils set off on their own design challenge. Each class was allocated a different space in the new proposed Innovation Centre building. In groups, they then had to come up with a design for that space. They conducted market research by surveying pupils and interviewing members of the school community. They came up with initial plans and iterated them until they had a finished proposal. Their next challenge was to create a pitch for their design which they had to present to their class as well as a 3D model or pop-up book to showcase their creative ideas. The winning pitch from each class then had the opportunity to make a final pitch to Arcadis on Tuesday 2 July. Josephine Neill and Roksana Wyrwa, from Arcadis, listened to our top five groups and had the challenging task of selecting a winning pitch and design. After giving each group positive feedback about their design process and innovative ideas they then selected the winning group who were from 1W; Mia, Sara, Katya, Riva and Stella. A fantastic achievement girls, well done.
