80th Anniversary D-Day Landings: Remembering Brave Heroes

On the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, we honoured the hundreds of thousands of brave heroes who had to leave their homes, not knowing if they would ever return home – indeed many of them did not.

We shared the story of Bailey L’s (Fifth Year) grandfather which also featured in the BBC’s coverage. To read the full story click here.

We also shared the story of Old Caterhamian Geoffrey Pidgeon (27/05/27 to 12/08/2021). Geoffrey was at Caterham in the 1930s and stayed connected to the school throughout his life. Geoffrey received France’s highest civil and military honour for his work with MI6 during the Second World setting up the wireless communications for the D-Day landings. He was the youngest member of MI6 and you can read his full story here.
