Fifth Year Hit the High Numbers at GCSE
A part physical, part virtual school year culminated in stellar GCSE results for Caterham pupils with 92% of all grades at 9 to 7. Half of all grades awarded were the top grade 9 and the average grade for a Caterham pupil is 8.1 (previously an A*). The superb outcomes span a broad range of subjects from Maths, English and Sciences to Astronomy, Computer Science and Textiles.
Headmaster, Ceri Jones, said: “Today’s results are fantastic news for a super talented and diverse group of pupils who have shown incredible resilience and character throughout the pandemic. Not only have they applied themselves to their academic study but also continued to engage fully in the wider life of the school – both virtual and physical – across co-curricular clubs, performing arts, sport and our partnership programme. They have risen to every challenge and learned so much more than academic content alone. I cannot wait to see what they achieve next as they progress into Sixth Form life here at Caterham. ”

Today’s results follow hot on the heels of Caterham’s A Level results which saw almost 90 per cent of Caterham Pupils secure their first choice university place. All pupils with offers for medical school, for Oxford and Cambridge Universities and degree apprenticeships with top global firms secure their places. Over half of all A Level grades confirmed and awarded by the exam boards were at the top A* grade with 83 per cent of all grades awarded either A* or A grade.
