British Physics Olympiad
Repeating last year’s success of eight medalled positions in the British Physics Olympiad, this year, eight Caterham physicists achieved either a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal in the tough competition. Sally (Upper Sixth Form) secured a Gold medal placing her in the top 14 per cent of candidates nationwide and has recently received an offer to study physics at Oxford University where she will join last year’s Top Gold (top 4 per cent nationally) winner Leo who secured a Silver medal in the even more punishing Round Two paper. Kelvin (Upper Sixth Form), who secured a Silver medal, has also received an offer to study Engineering at Cambridge. Aimed at pupils in Upper Sixth Form, the British Physics Olympiad is especially demanding for our Lower Sixth Form who opt to take it, so a special mention must go to Artem and Ruby who both secured Bronze medals.
