Pioneering Cancer Surgery
Records were set at this year’s truly fantastic MJS Christmas Science lecture. Not only did we welcome the amazing Mr Shahnawaz Rasheed, Consultant Surgeon at The Royal Marsden for an amazing lecture which covered both the pioneering use of robots in cancer surgery and global disaster response medicine – but the record was set for the highest attendance at a MJS lecture (over 300 from across the globe) and the longest MJS lecture, with the audience hanging on every word until the close. The (record breaking) audience was full of praise for a truly inspiring, honest and insightful lecture. Questions for our speaker flowed and covered the medical, moral and practical prompted by the topics explored. The extensive question session also saw the youngest audience member confirm his new career goal to become a surgeon!
We were delighted to welcome special guests and potential medics from our partner schools – Warlingham School, Oxted School, Oasis Isle of Sheppey, and the London Academy of Excellence.
