The Gift of Music
The power of music and its positive effect on our mental health and/or physical being is well documented. Whether you enjoy playing an instrument yourself, listening, singing or dancing to music, music is a gift.
During these challenging times of isolation, Caterham Music have put together a series of live recitals and lecture recitals (a mixture of talks with a performance) that have included to date: Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, Bach/Busoni/Hall Chaconne, Liszt Sposalizio and Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2. Our pupils have been getting involved in live discussions throughout and only last night, Raife and Millie (Fifth Year) did the lastest talk on Beethoven’s Pathetique Sonata.
The recitals take place throughout the lockdown period on Thursday evening 8.03pm (straight after we clap for the NHS, Carers and Health Workers) and Sunday evening at 8.00pm. This coming Sunday, Kristy (Fifth Year) will do a talk on Haydn’s Sonata in C, Hob.50 (English Sonata).
Please follow @CaterhamMusic on Instagram over the coming weeks to enjoy some musical treats. If you have missed any so far, the department are creating a catalogue of the recitals so far for your enjoyment
