Lower Sixth’s Morocco Charity Trip
16 Lower Sixth pupils travelled to Morocco in July on a new charity trip. The team were based in the Bougemez valley in the High Atlas Mountains in a truly spectacular location. They worked with the local community in two projects in the village, teaching English at the school, and renovating a building for the women’s carpet making co-operative. Both projects were very rewarding and we left feeling we had made friends and developed a new partnership for the future.
The next part of the trip was a challenging three day trek through the mountains, setting up camp every night and accompanied by pack mules. It was physically challenging and a real test of resilience and team work. The trip ended with an overnight stay in Marrakesh and a chance to see the sights and stock up at the souk before travelling home.
