Moncrieff Jones Society Christmas Lecture
Coral reefs are the subject of this year’s annual Moncrieff Jones Society Christmas lecture, to be given by research scientist, Max Bodmer.
Mr Bodmer studied biology at Oxford University and is now conducting research in Honduras on what is happening to the world’s coral reefs. Coral reefs are among the most beautiful and diverse places on earth but, like the rain forests, are under threat of extinction due to human activities; deforestation, over-fishing, global warming, and acidification of the oceans are having a catastrophic effect on marine food chains with dangerous but unknown consequences for mankind. There has never been a more important time to understand the impact of mankind’s destruction of the marine ecosystems.
We look forward to seeing you for a festive, yet informative evening with the MJS!
Drinks will be served from 6.30pm, and the lecture will begin at 7.00pm. There will be time devoted to questions at the end of the lecture.
You do not need a ticket to attend, but please sign up on Eventbrite or contact Eloise Väisänen, Alumni Officer ([email protected] / tel: 01883 335091) to confirm your attendance.
